1 ESO THE UK AND IRELAND

Image
Today, we have started working with our second notebook. This bigger notebook is going to be used to learn and investigate British and Irish culture.  The title of this notebook is: "Culture, Customs & Lifestyle in the UK and Ireland" First, we have drawn the map of the UK and the Republic of Ireland and added the names of some of the most important cities. On the next page, we have coloured a worksheet with the British Coins and Notes.

I have taken some pictures of my notebook, so you can compare it with yours and check that it is completed.

1 ESO: READERS

Image
Reading is an excellent way to learn new things about the world,  expanding your vocabulary and discovering new language structures.  This year, we are going to dedicate part of the classes to reading the books we have in our class library.  In our classroom library, there are readers and chapter books. We will start with easy books and then we will move on to more complex texts. Practice is the key to reading more fluently and with better comprehension.

1 ESO GRAMMAR WORKBOOKS

Image
Every week, we'll do a bunch of exercises to practice two different grammar points. So far, we have done: Workbook 1: Personal Pronouns Workbook 2: This, that, these and those Don't forget to submit your work to the group tray so I can correct it.  Every workbook contains a section dedicated to explaining the grammar point we are practising. That is the part you must copy into your notebook. The idea is to create a language notebook where you will record grammar points, vocabulary, conversation models, pronunciation tips, and other relevant language study materials. It looks simple at the beginning, and you're familiar with these basic concepts, but eventually, we'll tackle more complicated stuff. If you have a solid foundation in the language, you will grasp new things easily.

The new entry for the English Journal is: Which is your favourite season and why? My favourite season is ...because...

1 ESO CONVERSATION 1: HOW TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF

Image
Today we have started the class practising how to introduce ourselves. It is a basic conversation, but very helpful when meeting someone for the first time. After practising several times, we move on to the next activity: a role play. ROLEPLAY 1: AT A VIP PARTY We pretended that we were celebrities invited to the Vogue Magazine VIP Party. Each of us had a card with our identity and a list of people we wanted to meet. It was fun to get to know such a group of famous people!:) GRAMMAR 1: PERSONAL PRONOUNS We reviewed the use of the Personal Pronouns with a little workbook.  HOMEWORK: At home, you need to finish your workbook exercises, copy the grammar point in your notebook and practice for our first mini test. We are having a test tomorrow (1B and 1C). 1A will have the exam on Thursday.

1 ESO: MY ENGLISH JOURNAL

The English Journal is an important element of our classes because we are not just going to practice our writing with it, but also we are going to find topics for our conversations.  We have done the first steps, and it is starting to look really nice.  So far, we have done: 1. The title page of the English Journal. 2. My profile 3. My Autumn Bucket List
