CCL: PORRIDGE AND TOAD IN THE HOLE
In our big notebook, as we call it, we also have a section dedicated to traditional food and meals in the UK and Ireland. This week has been the turn of two meals any character in Dickens's novels could have eaten.
PORRIDGE
Porridge is a Scottish dish, traditionally made from porridge oats or oatmeal, water and salt.
TOAD IN THE HOLE
Toad in the hole is a traditional British dish made of sausages baked into a giant Yorkshire pudding, typically served with an onion gravy.
